Human 2.0, blurring the boundaries between human and machine. Really interesting, wish I’d come across this when I was doing my dissertation! Essentially this demonstrates what is seemingly known to only a few - the ‘disabled’ person designing situations to enable participation in otherwise excluded activities. It’s exciting that we are bringing this ‘fringe’ interest more and more into the spotlight, which is something I am soooo desperate to work with as an interaction designer. I love how, early on in the clip, it is acknowledged that we have to ‘work out’ how to use the crap that often doctors give us to help enable ourselves. Hugh Herr goes into more detail of the technicalities of limb prosthesis and the potential that new technologies can offer. I’m only 6 minutes through… maybe more to come!
