Hello, I'm Calum Pringle Interaction Designer working and living in London, this is a collection of my thoughts.

SO. Nightmare.

First time round there wasn’t much stress getting Mum trained up on the dictation software, but this time all went to shit and we scraped through the training…. now it only gets %50 of the <big> words right… most words are small… and those are probably not the ones that we miss-hear anyway! NIGHTMARE but then my project was always admitting the software wasn’t quite there yet. It’s just been very frustrating. I have a cold, a sore head and I just wanted everything to work! We get a better rate of accuracy once we train individual words, but thats hardly practical for conversations. I feel like shit. Excuse the language.

So like, where to now. I guess continue to get my end working nicely so that when input comes in, sexy output is displayed. Similar to the videos I’m about to upload. I have to hope that maybe if I get a better microphone and mums spent some more time with the software we’ll get better results. Dragon recognizes the individual words when mum reads the set excerpts, but for some reason doesn’t transfer that accuracy to the dictation. I think I’m going to have to speak to them more to see what else I can do to increase the accuracy here.

I don’t feel completely disheartened because it works nicely with me, but like, it’s easy to get carried away with the idea that it’s going to work… and it is, but Dragon needs to help! ARG!
